NPK Puts on Another Successful Service Conference

June 4th – June 7th NPK held its second service school of the year. Representatives from Rish Equipment Company, Kirby-Smith Machinery, Meade Tractor, Road Machinery, and Waukesha Pearce Industries service departments came in for the week to learn about operation, maintenance and repair of various NPK construction & demolition attachments from NPK’s exceptional product support team.
Attendees began arriving Sunday afternoon, and a meet and greet dinner was held at Brewsters in Twinsburg. Monday morning kicked off with a tour of the facilities. Visitors were able to see the NPK operation from start to finish: components being welded & machined, attachments being assembled, final prep and shipping, and finally ending up in the sales & service offices to meet the folks on the other end of the line when calling in.
After taking in the facility, Monday’s class covered operation and maintenance of hydraulic hammers. Post lecture, the guys were able to get their hands dirty disassembling and assembling various hammers. Tuesday classes included autolubes and pedestal boom systems. Wednesday classes covered concrete crushers, material processors & their booster systems, demolition grabs, and how to efficiently use NPK’s electronic parts catalog. The group worked to disassemble & reassemble a booster assembly and got to see a crusher in action. Finally on Thursday the group learned about plate compactors & sheet pile drivers, hydraulic installation kits, and were introduced to Paus mining vehicles. One of NPK’s compactor assembly specialists, helped demonstrate the disassembly & reassembly of a pair of compactors.
Although the group raved about how much they learned, the conference wasn’t all work and no play. NPK employees and guests came together to get to know one another, laugh, and build bonds to help continue to strengthen NPK-dealer relationships. Lunches were catered by C&C Catering Express who did an excellent job as always. Each evening before leaving for dinner, NPK employees joined the class for a couple games of horseshoes accompanied by various beverages. Then each evening before returning to the hotel dinner and drinks were shared at various Twinsburg restaurants.
The most exciting event of the week though, happened Wednesday afternoon before dinner: the rodeo! Conference attendees donned their cowboy hats and took turns mounting the Deere 210G excavator to see who could complete the excavator operation course the fastest while avoiding penalties. The excavator was fitted with a boom pin chained to the stick, which would swing back and forth precariously if operation was erratic. Tasks included dropping the pin into a tool holder, knocking an egg off of an orange cone using the pin, guiding the pin between objects without knocking any over, and knocking over wood blocks in a specific order. First place went to JP Warren from Meade Tractor in Kingsport, TN. Awesome job! And great job to all of the other participants as well! What a fun event!
